Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 19 May 2025: As Eid Al-Adha draws nearer, Saudi travellers are increasingly exploring both domestic and nearby regional escapes, according to new search data from Skyscanner.
Latest search data from January to April have shown that Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Abha were ranked among the most searched-for destinations for travel between 5–9 June, with Doha emerging as the top international choice outside of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The week commencing 21 April marked a peak search period to these destinations from [ES1] Jeddah and Riyadh, reflecting the growing interest in regional travel during the holiday season.
The growing interest to travel during Eid is reflected by a steady rise in demand compared to previous years. Data shows searches for travel during Eid rose by over 14% year-on-year in February and by 20% in March, highlighting the increasing enthusiasm amongst Saudi residents to travel during the festive break.
Short trips continue to be preferred, driven by the convenience and ease of exploring neighbouring cities. With families and individuals looking to maximise their time over the long weekend, quick and accessible destinations within Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC region are proving to be the most popular.
The timing of Eid Al-Adha – also coincides just before the start of the busy summer travel period – appears to be shaping travel choices this year, especially with school terms still ongoing and holidays yet to begin.
